Imse Vimse swim diaper sizing

I'm thinking about getting LO an Imse Vimse swim diaper but I'm not sure what size I should get him.

He's 9.5 months and was 21 lbs at his last pedi appt a month ago. The large says 20-26 lbs and the extra large says 24-31 lbs. He's been gaining weight pretty fast, but I know weight gain tends to slow way down around a year. He wont be using the diaper until our vacation in mid-May and then throughout the summer. Anyone have experience with how these fit? Do you think it would be totally ridiculous to go for X-Large?

Re: Imse Vimse swim diaper sizing

  • I think I bought A a medium because she's a little smaller (shes about 18 lbs).  I found the fit to be a little more generous than the other swim diapers we purchased.  I'd probably go with the large.  I doubt he will gain 5 more pounds (and exceed the higher limit of the large) in the next month.  Also, if you order it now then you will have time to return it if its too small!

  • My son wore the xlarge last summer when he was almost 2 (like 20-24 months) and weighed in around 28 lbs.  Fit him through winter when he potty trained at 30ish pounds.  I would go large.

  • My son is about the same size as yours, we got a large and it looks like it fits nicely. I think it'll last through the summer. I also have an Applecheeks size 2, which is for 18 lbs +, and it looks huge on him. I think the Imse Vimse XL would be the same way. Might work okay, but look very droopy.

  • Great! That's what I was hoping to hear because the colors I want aren't available in x-large. Stick out tongue

    Thanks ladies!
