LO always wakes up crying

My DS always wakes up crying. Always. From naps, in the morning, in the middle of the night, even when he is awake for only 30 seconds (like at the end of a sleep cycle) he is crying. Anyone else? I babysit a friends baby once a week and she slowly wakes up, rubs her eyes, then starts playing with whatever is in her crib. Did I do something wrong? He does not cry hardly at all during the rest of the day.

    My DD does the same thing, she cries when waking up and stands in her crib ready to get out.  Like your LO she doesn't cry much during the day.  I think it is just temperament, sometimes if I let DD CIO for a few she will settle down and play for a bit but not usually.

    DS still does this on occasion.  I found that it lessened as he got older, but I always thought I did something wrong.  He usually wakes up a bit crabby, so I think that is why he used to wake up crying all the time.

    Whatever you did I did it too then! DS does the same and has been this way since we was very small. It's gotten a tiny bit better but 8 out 10 times he still wakes up crying. And just like you mentioned my LO hardly ever cries during the day...I wonder what it is.

    Yup, my little guy has ranges too. I wonder when they will grow out of it?

    DD does the same thing. This is pretty much the only time she cries and she is happy the instant I pick her up. The problem is that most of the time she still needs more sleep but there is no way she will go back to sleep with all the screaming going on.
