We use plug in LED ones in both of the kids' bedrooms. I also have a few of the teal-greenish colored night lights that plug in that have softer light. Both purchased at home improvement store. Pottery barn kids have ones that match bedding.
We use the Teach Me Time clock for both the girls as a nightlight. It provides plenty of light! I did originally get it for DD1 to use as a clock (green when she can get up in the morning) but it's so bright (not too much) that I bought one for DD2's room to use as a nightlight, also knowing that it will be a good clock for her as she gets older too
They also each have a Twilight Ladybug (the red one) for a little extra something (fun) at bedtime. I do notice that DD1 will turn it on randomly throughout the night if/when she wakes up.

we have the circo led nightlights. we charge them so they don't need to stay plugged in, DDs can walk around with them. It's pretty cool. I love that they don't have to stay plugged in so the girls never had to mess with them being in the outlet

We have the softer glowing green ones in our house, but DS was still saying it was too dark. I got him one from the $1 store that just looks like an old style christmas tree bulb with a Disney cars plastic plate in front of it. (His room is cars themed.) It puts out a lot more light & he loves it.
