March 2012 Moms

April Mom became March Mom

Hi all. I am a FTM still getting used to everything. My little one decided to make her arrival early and was born on March 28. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

She's currently almost 2 weeks old. We are  EBF but I want to start pumping and create a freezer store, but I am uncertain where to start. She starting to become more alert after feedings, which is fun, except when mom wants to go back to sleep! It has been a fun adventure that I know will continue to be one, certainly!

Re: April Mom became March Mom

  • Hi and welcome! Most of the moms on this page have moved over to our FB page so it's pretty dead around here. Some mamas are still here, but if you're looking to chat more, scroll down a bit and find our FB page link :)

congrats on the new arrival.. we have a mix of Feb, March and April mommy's who were all due in March and decided to stick with their original board.. since we spent so many months together.

Everyone is pretty helpful and cool so I am sure you will get help with any questions and concerns you have since there is a wide range of ages and experience on here  :)

  • Welcome!

I'd get a hands free pumping bra, and pump after 1 or 2 feedings a day for about 15 minutes.  When you pump, remember that the highest setting isn't necessarily the best one- find one that is comfortable for you.  I like the lansinoh storage bags...  and I just use a box in our deep freezer to store.  Keep in mind that in a refridgerator/freezer, milk is good for 3 months, but in a deep freeze it's good for up to a year.

  • Hey Steffie, I'm stalking this board too, ha ha! I love the April board but it's also nice to read posts on a board where all the babies are on the outside. Hope all is wellwith your new family!

  • Hi and welcome! Smile

My pumping advice is to do it after feedings if you are still breastfeeding from the boob. I've had times when I've pumped and right after Isaac got hungry. So I felt bad for pumping but I was so  engorged that I had to do something and LO was sound asleep! Then your LO gets full and by the time she will be hungry again you'll have enough milk again. GL!
