Success after IF

Recommend your infant carrier...

Since I'm starting all over again with purchasing baby items, I would like your suggestions on your infant carrier.

Pros? Cons?

I drive a minivan, so I'm not concerned about space.

Re: Recommend your infant carrier...

  • I am a big fan of our graco snugride...the regular one and not the 32 or 35 or whatever weight they go up to now.   The bigger the weight limit, the heavier the seat, and the regular one plus a baby is heavy enough!  Not to mention kids are much more likely to reach the height and/or be ready for a convertible seat well before they reach 32 or 35 pounds.  No need to pay the extra money or deal with the heavier seat IMO.
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • We got a snugride 22 on accident (thought it was the 35 lb. one), but it's lighter and will be fine until we switch to a convertible, so we just kept it.
  • We had a Graco and a Chicco (had to get the Chicco when my twin B was under 5lbs coming home.)  We loved the Chicco so much we sold the Graco and got another Chicco. It was SO easy to install, so much easier to adjust, had better support around the baby etc.
  • i like ergo with the infant insert for newborns and then the gemini when they're old enough to support their heads. the nice thing about the gemini is that it has the option of facing forward, which is the only position that my son likes. it's not the greatest position for their hips to face forward but i figure it's okay in moderation.

  • The snugride 32 has a much higher height limit than the original - 32 inches versus 29 inches.  The snugride 30 (which you don't see very much) has a height limit of 30 inches.  The snugride 35 still only has a height limit of 32 inches, so paying extra for the 3 pound difference between 32 and 35 pounds isn't worth it since almost no kids will be that heavy and still under 32 inches and comfortable in the seat.

  • Overall I like our Chicco Keyfit 30.  It was very easy to install and get the seat in and out of the base.  The only thing I didn't like about it was the sunshade was small and didn't do a great job blocking the sun.
