Car seat insert?

When do you stop using the car seat insert to keep LOs head steady? Mine is 10.5 weeks and has pretty good head control. Is it time?

    I have the Greco key fit 30 which has the head and body insert. I took out the body insert about 3 weeks ago because it was getting way too tight in there for ds. I kept the head insert though because while he doesn't need it for support it does seem much more comfortable for him. Also it does offer support when he falls asleep so his head doesn't fall over.

    We took it out because his head was over it.  He's just too long, and it wasn't cushioning him anymore.  It didn't look safe to me to have something in there that he didn't fit in.  He was around 10 weeks I think.

    I took it out yesterday. She is getting way too big for it, and I felt like it was making her hotter because it blocked the vents in the back of the seat.
    After TTC with IR PCOS:

    The Keyfit 30 says until 11 pounds (I think). I took out the body part first and just took out the head part this past weekend. He was 12 pounds at his 2 month appointment.

    We took ours out a couple of weeks ago because his head wasn't resting in it well anymore. He looks a lot more comfortable in it now,

    DD's was two parts, one head insert and a smaller newborn one for a tighter fit. We just took the newborn one out today, but she probably could have done without it for a few weeks now.

    11 lbs is what the booklet that came with the carseat says. I took the seat cushion out at 11 lbs but we still have the headrest part in. That did not have a weight limit according to the manual.

    I just toke mine out because I noticed the warning that said it shouldn't be used above the 3rd set of slats for the straps. Oops..she's been there for at least 2 weeks. Check yours and see if it's the same.
