When do stretch marks start to show up? So far nothing, but it amazes me because of how big i am compared to what i was.. Also, I started out at about 115-120 pre-pregnancy, and I've gained about 20-25 lbs (i will find out for sure by weds at our next appointment... Yipee! not.) is that too much? I know that your supposed to gain less if ur bigger and more if ur smaller, and my doctor hasn't said anything about my weight gain at all, but i feel like ive gained way too much this far along, and i just read that i am supposed to gain a pound a week at MINIMUM starting this week!!! AHHHHHH please talk to me ladies, im freakin out here, i dunno how my body can take 16 more weeks let alone 16 more lbs at MINIMUM!

Re: Stretch marks and weight gain...
Stretch marks can come at any time...a friend of mine didn't have any at all till the day she went into labor. I think it has a lot more to do with your genetic predisposition. I got stretchmarks in puberty when I gained weight quickly, and I figure I'll just add a few more during pregnancy. I just hope they continue to be white, the purple kind scare me!
As for your weight gain, it sounds pretty typical. If it were a problem, I'm sure your doctor would have mentioned it.
The Fluffy Cat says... "Boxes are the best toys ever invented!"
The stretch marks I got with DS showed up on my hips at the very end.
If your doctor hasn't commented, everything is fine. There's a huge range. I gained 50 with each of my babies and lost it all quickly after each baby, and without much effort (or BFing, for that matter). Your body will do what it has to do.
(ps: it's "you're". It's only a few more letters than ur, and makes you look infinitely smarter.)

I didn't get a single stretch mark until 36w with baby #2. Some people won't get them and some will, you just never know. I had two really big babies (both 9.5lbs born EARLY) so I was shocked that I made it that far.
As far as weight gain, I gained 25lbs with #1 and 22lbs with #2. I'm up 4lbs so far this pregnancy and I'm expecting to gain about the same.
We'll see.

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and I've gained about 16-17 pounds. I don't have any stretch marks so far. I hear that some women get them the last week of their pregnancy, but others get them early on.
If you are worried about weight gain, talk to your doctor. I thought I was gaining a bt too much considering they only recommend about 25 pounds in total. But at my doc's office, they said it is okay if you gain a little extra as long as you are eating healthy and exercising. It's more of a concern if you gain 50 or 60 pounds in total because that could cause blood pressure problems etc.
With DS1 I got one little/light stretch mark my last week or so-to be honest I didnt even know I had it until after he was born haha..not everyone gets them-you may be luck and not.
I was 115-120 pre-pregnancy too, at my last appt. I was up 18 lbs
. I gained 7 lbs in one months eeeek! I asked the Dr. and he said that Im okay as far as my over all gain, but to start walking once it gets warm out just to make sure I keep in the weight gain area I want to be in..
If it makes you feel better, with my first I lost all my weight and more..Im sure you will too
I think it has to do with genetics and weight gain. For example, genetics will dictate much of your skins elasticity, however, I'm pretty sure there's some kind of threshold, kwim? With my first I gained a total of 36 lbs, the stretchies showed up at about 34 weeks. So far none with this LO, yet...
stay calm!! i think (i hope) your doc would say something if she was concerned about the weight. i have gained 17lbs at 22 weeks and im starting to get nervous... i have less energy for the gym and i just feel like a cow! i would get the exercise in where you can, take long walks, yoga, etc.... and just eat healthier food. maybe keep a food journal so that you can keep track of what your eating. i try to do that and it keeps me from being to bad
but dont worry, at least pregnancy is temporary! and i try to remind myself that i dont want to spend this time worrying about something that is not really in my control... this baby has to grow and that means i do to. just enjoy being preggo!
