Reporting unrestrained children in cars? (edited)

I know someone posted on here once about a hotline you can call if you know someone is not restraining their children. I know someone I believe does not, but I always see them pulling up to park, not leaving, so it's not a case where calling the police will really do any good.

I tried to google to figure out the hotline number, but could only find a couple for specific states. Does anyone know the number or how to find it?

ETA: I knew I was forgetting something when I originally posted, but couldn't put my finger on it. The number is for an agency that sends information on child safety to the owner of the vehicle.

I have called the police before when I see vehicles in traffic with unrestrained children. This is a case of me seeing someone park and get out and it doesn't look like the child was restrained, but I can't be sure. The police won't come for that.

  • You could call your local law enforcement, give them the plate of the vehicle if you get it, and let them take it from there.

  • I would call CPS or whatever child sevices are in your area, give them the plate number or name of people, what ever you have.
  • how old are the children?  My DD can undo her seatbelt herself, and sometime (i remind her not to but she does it when the car is still running).  Maybe if the children are older they are doing it themselves or a sibling is doing it for them.
