4 month old sleep regression

Please tell me someone else is going through this???!!! Ella used to sleep 12 hours at night, waking once for a feeding at midnight. She would take an 1.5 nap in the am and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. Well not anymore! Now, she screams at nap time and if I can get her to fall asleep its for 45 minutes max. She also started waking up multiple times in the night. What gives?? Please tell me she will out grow this.

  • Yes it is just a phase.DS is at the tail end of it. Some babies are over it in a couple days and some babies continue this until around month 6 or 7.

DS is still hating the naps but he is back to STTN.

  • Tuesday will be a full week of it for us. She used to go 7 to 8 hrs before waking for a feeding. Now it is every 2 to three. I. AM. TIRED. Naps really haven't been effected. I did pick her up one day at 5 and she hadn't napped since 9 30. That was fun. I'm hoping this doesn't last until 6 or 7 months.

  • It's crazy because my daughter will wake up 4-8 times between 12am until she gets up for the day between 630-730 not to eat, but for the paci. Either that or she gets into an uncomfortable position in her crib and needs to be rearranged. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I don't have to feed her every time but it's still exausting. Not sure if this has anything to do with being 4 months or not though because she's been doing this for a few weeks. Then some nights, like last night, she will sleep all the way through from 730 I wake her at 630-700 without making a peep (probably from sheer exhaustion). Those nights are few and far between, but I have to say they are awesome! Coincidentally they mostly happen when H has 'overnight duty', but that's Ok, I'll still take it!

  • mine is doing this too. she started "stirring first at 4am and 6am" and i would give her the pacifier and put on the sleep sheep and she will go back to sleep. last night she woke up at 2:30am and i was so confused. i tried to give her pacifier and she started full on screaming, turns out she was hungry & did a full nursing. i read you should only nurse for 1 minute so they know not to eat at night time but she seemed really hungry so i just let her nurse for her normal amount of time?
  • There is hope - E went through this about two weeks ago.  He was going to bed at 645pm and waking somewhere around 2-4am for a feedng, then up for the day around 7am.  He started getting up 6, 7 or 8 times between 11 and 4, and being really hard to put to sleep when he did wake up.  It was a rough few nights, but it only lasted five nights for us.  He is back to 1, sometimes 2x a night for feedings.  Hang in there, it does get better and this too shall pass.

  • Seriously! DS has never fully slept through the night but he is a good sleeper and will go to bed 8:30-9 and on weekends isn't up for the day until 8-9. He still gets up at least once a night to nurse but will give good stretches of sleep before and after. Ugh...last night he was up 3-4 times nursing. I lost count. I don't even know the exact number bc I was in a haze and still am. This is just the beginning I'm afraid. I know he is going through developmental changes bc I can see it in him. He's just doing all kinds of new stuff and his little personality is changing and he is becoming so sweet and cute. We didn't have the best start with him. He was a very fussy newborn through 2 months. All I can recommend is...coffee. ;)
