So we announced this weekend to our families. Because both sets of parents are divorced, it turned into four announcements.
Mother in Law - She is moving into a new condo. We were looking around and DH asked "What will this room be? How bout that one? Etc..." and when she had labeled all the rooms, he said "So where's the nursery?" My MIL is a HUGE AW, so when we went to her parents house to tell them, after I told them and they were asking questions, DH's grandfather was crying, etc...she said "Okay...so changing the subject...." and started talking about her d*** condo again. That's all she's talked about for six months.
Father in Law - We just told him at his house. He's pretty low key, so he was excited, but no big reaction.
My Dad - We told him in front of his whole family on Easter Sunday. I gave him an Easter egg with a onesie in it that said "Baby's First Easter" and told him he wouldn't be able to use it until next year. He started crying, my cousins started *squealing* and my grandmother just sat there with tears in her eyes. It was definitely the best announcement/reaction. :-)
My mom already knew. I told her the day we got our pregnancy test (April Fools Day, so she didn't believe it).
So....now I'm crossing my fingers that my family can honor my request to keep this off Facebook until I see the heartbeat. I think I was pretty clear that it was important to me so it shouldn't be a problem. Wish me luck though - they're pretty excited.
Re: Couldn't Hold it In - Our Announcement
So exciting!
Yay! I love your grandmother's reaction.
I'm having trouble holding it in, too. Everytime someone asks me "how are you?" I want to shout it out.
I am glad that it went well.
We are holding out untlil Mother's Day because my family is full of big mouths so I know that it would be all over Facebook. At that point I'll be 10 weeks.
