horrifically odd hand pain

Yesterday morning, I woke up with a bad pain in my hand/fingers. It seems to be between my ring and middle finger on my non-dominant hand where it is tender if I rub. I don't feel it unless I curl both of those fingers, then it radiates up the side of the ring finger (fingers themselves are not tender and it doesn't feel like nerve pain). I didn't injure it nor does it appear that I've gotten bitten by anything. It is the weirdest pain.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the ligaments or tendons and the relaxin. Maybe I slept on it weird? Has anyone else experienced anything odd and random pains like this?

I am hesitant to to go the doctor for this as I don't want to be in a waiting room with sick people, they can't do an xray and what can they really prescribe that I can take anyway. Of course, if I continues or gets worse, I will see the doc.

Advice is welcome.

Re: horrifically odd hand pain

  • I had a lot of hand pain and weakness late in pregnancy and for the first few weeks after I delivered.  If you are worried, I would go to to the doctor or at least call.

  • The way the baby lays can affect your hands.  I could barely use mine  in the last few weeks being preggo and a few weeks after DD's birth.

  • pregnancy carpal tunnel maybe - it goes away after birth.
