No offense meant for anyone who is planning on pics and/or video, but I have never ever wanted to be filmed or photographed giving birth. It just freaks me out. Once the action is over and all the pink wobbly bits are all safely covered back up, I'm okay with some photos. I can't imagine my kid is ever going to go, "Mommy, I'm so mad that I can't get to see myself popping out of your hooha." Am I missing something?
Re: Lights, Cameras?, Action
We video'd DD's birth from the shelf on the wall that was behind my head, so you can't see anything graphic at all (I would NEVER do a full on vag shot in a gajillion years), you can't see anything except the back of my head and knees, and then there's a baby there. I've watched it several times actually, and I'm so glad we have it. It always makes me misty-eyed. We'll probably do the same thing this time, I like having a record of baby's first seconds in the world
But no one, including me, wants to see anything shot from the business side of delivery <shudders>
I'm a photo junkie so I may have someone to take photos of "moments" during labour and delivery - husband and wife moments, baby on the chest, maybe even pictures during pushing. All above the waist, of course. I love the emotion captured in those first moments and totally missed out with my last delivery.
As for video, no thank you. I don't need to see or hear myself screaming obscenities at everyone in the room.
Yes, you are missing something. You're missing those who have it done tastefully. It's more about remembering the emotion, then getting a crotch shot.
Here's a great site for more information.

Heard about them before through a friend. Hers was tastefully done. HOWEVER, my aunt taking pictures/recording her granddaughter's birth in to this world. *cringes* no one was pregnant or having sex for months after that. That was more than what I ever wanted to see of my cousin. When my aunt said she had pictures, I didn't think that was what she meant.
