I have a rectal thermometer and a regular one, but the pediatrician told us that they don't really like people using rectal ones anymore and it is hard to take her temp. in her armpit.
So, what thermometer do you have and can recommend? I am thinking an ear one or something like that may be helpful. Thanks!
Re: Recommend your thermometer
There is 6 in a pack and can be left on up to 48 hours I think .. we got those just for emergency situations when we think there is a problem and want to keep tabs on it.
We have a behind the ear digital (maybe by Vicks?) and we are in the hospital tonight because the damn thing registered 100.9. I know it's not the thermometer's fault that she had a fever but I'm looking for something to be mad at! Anyway, it's quick and easy. Nothing is terribly accurate but it's an indication. I knew that it could read about half a degree lower than reality so when I saw roughly 101 I figured it was really closer to 101.5 and called the dr.
Aleepy momma is rambling.....
I've always found the rectal temp to be the most accurate. I have this one and it's my favorite thermometer for a baby...

We do have a temporal artery one for quick temperatures... https://www.amazon.com/Exergen-Temporal-Artery-Thermometer-Antimicrobial/dp/B0015TIZGQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1333944832&sr=1-2
I like this one, but it isn't always accurate. But it does get close.
I can't even hold my cat at the vets when they use a rectal thermometer... I feel so awful. I am pretty sure LO would have to be showing some real sickie signs for me to jam one up his poor lil ass.... and I would try all other thermometer options first to make sure before doing that to him.
