Jogging Stroller Question

So, can a jogging stroller be used in pretty much the same capacity as a regular stroller. I need a jogging stroller to walk/jog around my neighborhood and wondered if there is a reason that one of those strollers wouldn't work at the mall or something. I truly am clueless, so any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Jogging Stroller Question

  • Yes! I dont jog but the Citi Mini is rated so highly I want it.

  • I used a jogging stroller as a main stroller for the first couple months after DS was born.  I honestly didn't have as many issues as some people say they do but I do remember getting caught pretty easily on clothes racks in Carter's.  Other than that, we loved ours and DS would regularly sleep in it while we were out and about.

  • I've taken the jogging stroller shopping before.. it wasn't SO bad. I think I got caught in a clothes rack at kohls. However, I'm a more outdoors person than a shopper / walk around the mall person

  • I'm pretty clueless too, but from what I've read so far...  the front wheels of the jogging strollers don't swivel, so they can be difficult around tight spaces like the grocery store or the mall.

I don't think the City Mini is an actual jogging stroller even if it is made by "Baby Jogger." I have it, and it has plastic wheels, so to me it doesn't seem like it would handle jogging very well.

  • My actual jogging stroller was uber expensive, has rubber inflated wheels, a fixed front wheel, and would need to be broken down to fit in my trunk (no graceful fold). So it woulnt make a great everyday stroller. I have the city mini also and think its a great everyday stroller but I wouldn't run with it.

  • Most jogging strollers have fixed front wheels, rubber, air inflated tires, and are big and bulky. They do make some with swivel front wheels that can be locked for running or jogging, the BOB Revolution is an example, for the more serious distance runners one with a fixed front wheel is ideal (like the BOB Ironman). No matter what though, they are not easy to fold, are generally pretty heavy (the Revolution is 25 lbs), and with the big tires, some don't fit so well in small cars, especially without removing the tires.

The City Mini is not a jogging stroller and is not meant to be one. It does have a lockable front wheel, but that's more for going over rough surfaces.

All that being said, we do plan to get 2 strollers, the Britax B-Agile (a mere 16 lbs and fairly compact) for everyday, since it's light and has the awesome one hand fold. And the BOB Revolution for running and outdoor stuff (we're both runners and do lots of outdoorsy things). I'm going with the Revolution over the Ironman just because I want the flexibility of the swivel wheel when needed and will lock the front wheel when running. The BOB will stay in the house or garage, whereas the Britax will most likely live in the trunk of my Corolla.

  • We were given a jogging stroller as a hand-me-down (that was never used!), and that will be our primary stroller for once LO is old enough. Until then, we will use the infant seat and the snap and go, because we didn't feel like it was easy enough to snap the infant seat straight into the jogging stroller.

  • We're going with the Baby Trend jogging stroller- the front wheel can be fixed or swivel and it can come with an infant carrier.
  • Thanks everyone! I got a really nice jogging stroller from a flea market, but really wasn't sure what to do. I think I will look for a smaller, lighter one for stores.

Travel Seeing your need, it seems like a swivel front wheel jogging stroller might suit your requirement. Swivel front wheel can be changed into different modes (straight locked or swivel) according to your purposes. Here's the link to Bob Revolution SE to find out further reviews and description: https://jogging-stroller-reviews.net/bob-revolution-se-stroller-reviews/Automobile

  • We have the BOB with the front wheel that swivels, but can be locked for jogging.  We plan to use the BOB when walking around the neighborhood or if we will be walking on the beach or uneven ground or anything (we also bought the carseat adapter).  But the thing is a pain to fold up and get in and out of the car, so for short trips to the store we plan to use the Chicco version of the Snap N Go.
