Grandparents giving Easter baskets...

I am sure this will come up around Christmas too: are LOs grandparents giving baskets from the Easter Bunny?

I told MIL that I was excited about DS's Easter basket (just a book, a wubbanub, and a stuffed bunny that says "My First Easter"). She then tells me, "You didn't need to do that!". I'm sorry, you mean not get MY son his first Easter basket?!?! She said her and FIL went overboard on DS's Easter basket and therefore, I didn't need to get him one. I told her in a firm but not rude way "His mom is giving him his first Easter basket!".

I have no problem with them giving him gifts like that, but their gifts will not replace mine or be from the Easter bunny or Santa. I want to give and be the magic! It is my turn! You had your kids and years of magic!

i let the grandparents do that. saves us some money!! and why cant like one gift each be from santa/bunny?

I agree that you should get to do his first basket, and anything they do is in addition to it. My parents sent DD a little care package and I was happy. We aren't doing anything this year because she is still so little, we are moving, and we don't have much extra cash.

I agree with this - grandparents can give gifts but they are from the grandparents. Luckily, my parents are very cool about all of this kind of stuff and my ILs are Jewish!

I've had GParents give little Easter gifts, and sometimes we've added them to the basket, but they've never done a whole basket. We didn't do a basket for Scar this year. The big kids are at their dads and she is too little to know any better.

My dad does another basket from the bunny of little stuff nothing like the bunny does here also he does it from santa it does not bother me because he has a blast doing it and he ask what it should be and that way it cuts down on what we do

We live in Arkansas and my mom lives in Michigan so she sent DS an easter basket. It was really sweet of her and she put a lot of cute stuff in there (stuffed Beanie bunny, 4 outfits, washcloths). She likes doing what she can for him since she lives so far away. I also got DS some things and am going to make up an Easter basket for him as well. I appreciate my mom sending him her basket, but he has to have one from mommy and daddy, too. Big Smile

Oh, I about flipped my lid when my MIL brought 10 presents to my DS1's first Christmas--all signed "from Santa". Ummm...no. You MUST be crazy! DH was required to speak to her about that ( and he wanted to). Last year was much better

I got reamed out by crazy mil because I bought ds a bumbo for Easter and she had planned on getting him one. Excuse me, how was I supposed to know and too bad. Mind you that this was two days before Easter and she was still planning to get it. So annoying!
