Daycare question

I go back to work on Monday and put my daughter in daycare two days this week to get both of us adjusted. When I picked her up yesterday I asked them how she did napping. They said that it wasn't very good and that she was looking around a lot all  day. They said that she probably only slept 1 hour. According to her age she is supposed to sleep 5 hours during the day. I am so concerned that she is not going to get enough sleep at daycare . Has anyone else come across this problem? Do you think she will adjust to the daycare environment. I am sure she isn't used to all of the noise and other people and babies around, but she needs her sleep.

Re: Daycare question

  • I think she will adjust.  Right now it's new and unfamiliar and there's a lot of new stimulation.  DD starts daycare Monday and I've just resigned myself to knowing she probably won't nap well at first.  But I know she'll get used to it and be fine.

  • My son has been in daycare for 2 weeks now. Some days he sleeps 2 hours and some days he sleeps 4-5 hours. It really will depend on the child and the day. At first he rarely slept and now it is more often. They do get use to their routine. Good luck.
  • She will adjust. It is a totally new environment and new people for her. She'll eventally get into a routine and start napping more and then as she moves up classes she'll get on a set sleep schedule. It just takes time.
