anyone else? nerve pain?

so over the past few weeks I have developed a pain/pinch in my lower right back/butt...the muscles seems sore and inflamed and then on top of that there are shooting pains into my but...it came to a head yesterday after I spent the day cleaning...which I know I shouldn't have...I could barely walk or move last night without the shooting pain.  I bought a heating pad and have been using it..it helps a little...I'm thinking it may be sciatic nerve pain but not sure because it doesn't go all the way down my leg...anyone else experiencing this?? have you talked to your Dr. about it?  I have an appt. Wednesday...however, everything I've read about nerve pain during pregnancy just says it will go away on its own...I have a strong fear of bending over or changing positions while sleeping!!

  • I have the same thing.  I start PT on Tuesday for 6 sessions.  They will show me certain things I can do at home.  I also had a Pre-Natal massage and it was wonderful.  It really helped the nerve.

  • Yes!! I get this all the time.  I read somewhere that the sciatic nerve sits under your uterus, and being pregnant can cause this kind of (excruciating) nerve pain. Most of the time I am pretty tough about pain, but this hurts, I feel for you. I have a friend who swears by pregnancy chiropractic visits, but I haven't tried it yet.  I am going to schedule a massage and see if that helps at all as well. I have heard nothing but good things about prenatal massage, so I will keep you informed.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • I get the same pain....especially when I bend over.  The other night I had the hardest time falling back to sleep because of the lower back pain.  I folded a pillow in half & placed it under my back & it seemed to help because I was able to finally fall back to sleep.
