I must have been in a very charitable mood at the start of the year because I signed up for two charity walks - The MS Walk which is an 8-mile walk in mid-May and the Susan G. Komen 3 Day in Late July.
The MS Walk is right at the tail end of my 2ww and like I mentioned, it's 8 miles. Would you still do the walk or skip it? (I will still donate the $)
Now, the Susan G. Komen is a different story. If I get a BFP, I will be in my 2nd tri at the time of the walk and I'm sure walking 60 miles in 3 days won't be a possibility. I know with SGK3day, they get their money from you one way or another - either you raise it or they charge you the minimum donation ($2300!) Does anyone know if they give medical exceptions to walkers who can't walk and not hold them to making the sizable donation if there's a medical reason for not walking? I would still make a donation and volunteer my time, but $2300 is a lot...
Re: WWIFVD: Charity Walk during 2ww
I wouldn't...the march of dimes walk is 8 days after my transfer and i am not doing it. It breaks my heart because obviously it is something super close to my heart but I just don't want to risk it.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
I would do the 8 mile walk, but I do a lot of things I probably shouldn't. I would take my time and try to stay cool, but I would probably do it.
As for the SGK issue. I have no idea. I would just call them and ask. I know that it's a very terrible thought, but if you didn't show up and you didn't give them the money, they're not going to send you to a collection agency. Obviously not the way you want to deal with it but I'm just thinking they really have no choice but to give people medical exemptions.
Good Luck!

I wouldn't do the 8 mile walk in the 2ww. I just wouldn't want to question whether that had anything to do with the cycle, if G-d forbid it failed.
No idea if the Komen walk would allows for medical exceptions.

I would not walk in the 8mile after your DE cycle. Just too much at stake for me.
As for the SGK walk, it seems to me that you would just lose your registration fee and whatever donations you already had on your account if you just didn't show up. Here is a FAQ link I found on line that has questions about what happens. If you never check in, I don't see that they would make you pay the $$ on your own. https://www.the3day.org/site/PageServer?pagename=faq_2011#9
For 2012: All walkers must agree to raise a minimum of $2,300 by the first day of the 3-Day in order to walk. If you haven?t raised at least $2,300 by the time you check in online for a 2012 3-Day, you can still complete online check-in. You will need to have at least $2,300 in your fundraising account in order to receive your official 3-Day credential and participate in the event.

Tons of love and ((hugs)) to my IF sister NMscubagirl
I'm a lurker , but I did the 3 day walk last year. The girl in the tent next to my friend and I was 6 or 7 months pregnant. She was walking for her mom who had died of breast cancer. She ha to check in with mthe medical staff at every rest stop (or@Every other) to monitor her blood pressure and some other stuff. She took some shuttles to skip portions of the walk. They are pretty serious about your health and that of the baby. If you don't raise 2300 you have the option of not walking, or of making up the difference Before the start of the walk. If you choose not to walk they still keep any $$ raised to that point.
Hope this helps - posting from my phone - sorry for the typos.
