Bedroom furniture for preschooler

Where did you get your bedroom furniture for your preschooler.  Is it still the nursery stuff.  My DD is very short and still in her toddler bed.  We want to move her to a new room with a full size bed but will need new furniture.  I love the pbk stuff but I want something that will won't seem too young or kidish as she grows.

Re: Bedroom furniture for preschooler

  • Both of my kids' bedroom sets are from PBK.  I think they are good sets and won't seem too babyish as they get older.  The sets I got are pretty basic looking furniture.  By the time they're teenagers I'm sure they'll want something new, but I still think they'll last a long time.  If you think the PBK stuff is too young, have you checked out Land of Nod? Or even local furniture stores?  Maybe you can get a set that isn't specifically geared toward children.  I've seen some cute bedroom furniture marketed to adults, but would look cute in a girl's room too.

  • We got ours from Simplykidsfurniture.com. We got 2 of these since we have twins. https://www.simplykidsfurniture.com/0944181765a1.html. The quality is great and looks wonderful in their new room. The furniture is from a company out of Quebec. I have worked for a fine cabinetry design dealership and we sell a lot of wood cabinetry from Quebec and other parts of Canada and the quality of this furniture is on par with what we sell to our high end clients, so I am very pleased with it and the price. Of course you do have to assemble it yourself, but my DH is very handy and put all the items together himself x 2. They have a lot of different sets to choose from, this one was just what I wanted because it is not stark white, but off white and has a decorative detail at the foot of the chest of drawers and night stand so it is really cute in my twin girls room. I also love the storage of the 3 drawers under the bed, that is where I put their extra sheets and blankets. I left 1 drawer for each of them and they put what they want in it (has slippers in it right now). All of their little stuffed animals sit in the headboard and the bottom of the nightstand holds books they love to read before bed. I expect to have this set for at least 10 years.

  • We scored on a second hand twin Bombay kids bed from my nephew. It's in amazing shape and DS just loves it. I didn't realize how expensive that brand is. Then we went and bought a tall dresser in the same stain to match. They are pieces he can keep well into his teens if necessary.

We got DS's at a local furniture store.   Told them we wanted a twin bed(preferably a headboard with slats) a chest of drawers, nightstand, and a desk with hutch.   We picked a simple bedroom set that will grow with him.   Spent around 2k on it.        We wanted something that was well built and solid wood and that would last him through high school.
