Two Under 2

Pros and Cons to 2 u 2?!

Hello ladies! I am mostly a lurker around here on trhe bump, but want to come out of hiding and post more often! I mostly bump from my phone, and just figured out this siggy thing! lol..

SO... I am looking for pros and cons to having 2 u 2.... We just had a baby boy December 16th, and part of me wants to get the baby phase 'all over with' by having them close in age, and another part of me thinks waiting would be much much easier.

I'd like to hear as many pros and cons as possible! My hubby and I have been talking about this, and I want us to make the best decision for us! We want 2 or 3 kids total.

TIA! Hope I can be welcome!

  • Welcome, this board is very slow, so do not be offended if you do not get a bunch of responses.  This question does get asked A LOT along with "double stroller" posts.  I suggest looking at the past page or two to find some answers.

To answer your question, for us two under two is awesome, I really can't think of any "cons".  I don't subscribe to the "organized chaos" belief.  Things like having two in diapers, taking care of an infant and a toddler or not having your body "to yourself" aren't cons IMO.  This decision is different for everyone, factors like age, your childcare arrangement, organization etc. play into what will work for you, 2 under 2 isn't for everyone.

Bottom line there are pros and cons to having kids at each age bracket, it's up to you to find what's best for your family. GL

  • My DD1 just turned 2 (sniff sniff) so I no longer really have 2u2 but I'll answere anyway. For me, 2u2 has been fantastic! I would not want it any other way. The only real con for me was dealing with early (and late) pregnancy while chasing a toddler (mine are 19 months apart so she was a toddler for most of my pregnancy) . I am a SAHM so we don't have the whole childcare thing to worry about but I imagine that could be tough as well. Everything else has been absolutely amazing!

  • I absolutely love it and can't think of many cons. My 2 are 13.5 months apart and I would do this age gap again if we were have 3. Getting the diaper stage out of the way and still being in "baby mode" are major pros IMO. My only con was that my DS was born 5 weeks early and spent some time on the NICU. This was really hard with a 13.5 month old (trying) to run around. Otherwise it's amazing! Sure it has it's moments of pure insanity but I wouldn't trade it. My #2 was planned and I'm so glad we had them close!!
