Hello ladies,
I gained about 55lbs with DD and just got down to 20lbs above pre-pregnancy weight before I discovered we are expecting again.
Just canceled my WW subscription but I am honestly scared of the weight gain especially since I am now +20lbs! So tempted to keep watching and limiting my food intake but I don't want to limit my baby's nutrients too.
This is really my major worry ATM...taking away my excitement for #2 ![]()
Anyone have any advice on how to handle this please? Any meal plans to follow etc?
TIA!
Re: Carried over weight from previous pregnancy
You shouldn't limit your food intake, but you can make healthy food choies and avoid gaining that much weight again. With #2 I only gained 20lbs because I was so active during pregnancy with another child and ate healthily. Of course sometimes you gain more weight even if you make good choices because you swell a lot, but that will go away after delivery.
Maybe do something like myfitnessplan (that's free) and track your food/calories to make sure you're having a balanced diet for you and baby? You should of course be eating 100-300 more calories depending on your fitness level, but just because you're not aiming to lose weight anymore doesn't mean you can't track your intake so you're not going overboard with weight gain.
GL and congrats!
Every PG and woman is different, but I can tell you that my weight gain with this PG is VERY different than with DS (I also gained 55). I am up 1 lb from my starting-this-PG weight at almost 22w PG. I actually don't really track my weight because I don't think it is any true indication of healthiness, but I just had an appt this week so it is fresh in my mind. Keeping up with a little one keeps me on the move, plus we are still nursing, plus none of the aversions I had last time are impacting my food choices. I think your best bet is to be reasonably active and eat a reasonably well-balanced diet. If you are making healthy choices then your body will just do what it needs to do in terms of gaining. Ultimatley, health is more than a number on the scale, right? If knowing your weight isn't helpful then let your provider manage the number on the scale and talk to you if needed while you focus on the things that you really can control.
More Green For Less Green
I gained 65 pounds with DD1. I went from being a vegetarian with little dairy in my diet to craving burgers and milkshakes so my body was a little... off... BF'ing didn't help me lose any weight at all and I was still 22 pounds heavier than pre-preg when I got pregnant with DD2. So far, I've gained 33ish pounds and I'm not really worried about it. I walk 30ish minutes a day. I eat as healthy as possible while running around after a toddler. I try to stay hydrated and take care of myself but I SAH and DD is a bad napper so I don't really get any time to take care of me : ( I do the best I can.
Once DD2 gets here and we've established BF'ing, I'll start jogging again and I'm sure I'll be able to lose the weight. I've done weight watchers before and was successful and I love to jog so I'm not worried.
Try to just enjoy nourishing yourself to provide for someone else and stay positive!! Do the best you can : )
