What worked best for your LO? We have tried Desitin & Airing out...I took DD to the Pedi last week and she says its yeast...so she gave us a cream and it got worse so I took her to urgent care and the Pedi there said that its NOT yeast just a rash.. Wth? I am so confused!!! I really do not know why LO having a diaper rash makes me feel like a horrible Mother but it does!! The rash began when she started STTN, I was told never to wake a sleeping baby but I clearly will have to if its causing diaper rash..Any advice is appreciated! I am all over the place:(

Re: Diaper Rash..
Burned by the Bear
Our DD started STTN at 7 weeks and our pedi had us do this regimn daily which we still do and knock wood it has worked. First don't use wipes at all - EVER. Just a soft cloth or we use VIVA papertowels in warm water. The chemicals usually make the rash worse and even "sensitive" ones have them in it. Next we make sure the skin is super dry I mean use a fan blow on it whatever you have to to make sure all the moisture is gone. Then desitin maximum strength (purple label) apply a layer not too thick much enough to cover the skin well. Last use regular corn startch and pat it over the desitin which creates a cast like texture. It allows the skin to heal completely and protects it from anything (i.e. pee or poo) if you need to clean her make sure you don't wipe are just use warm water and clean the area. The desitin will not come off totally which is ok. If you are going to reapply make sure you have dried the area again very well then repeat with the desitin and corn startch. Our DD had one rash only and after our pedi had us start this it was gone in the morning and we've been doing it ever since. We only do this process at night because she sleep 11 hours. (sorry for typos multi-tasking at the office...) LOL
I tried all the brands -- Desitin, Butt Paste, Triple Paste, Mother Love, California Baby...this last one burned and made her cry.
I make sure she gets at least one 30 minute session of naked time a day. I also make sure her business is completely dry before putting on another diaper. This is a good time to sing songs or pretend to eat her feet.
The only product I use now is Aquaphor. I don't use it at every diaper change, but I slather it on every night before bed, so it acts as a barrier. I bought the big tub at Target. My girl can sleep 12 hours straight sometimes and I feel better letting her sleep when I put Aquaphor on her buns.
None of the diaper rash creams worked well for us. The only thing that has worked is prevention. the A/D ointment (not the white cream). It's clear and prevents anything from touching his skin.
He had rashes so bad his skin was bright red and bleeding. Now, the skin is a clear as his face and you'd never know he ever had a rash.
