Manual pump users

Any recs? And has anyone gone from using electric to hand pumps? I've just gone back to work and would prefer using a manual because it's smaller and don't have to worry about plug ins or batteries, but don't know how well it works after using electric for so long. I know it's different for everyone, just curious.. TIA!

Re: Manual pump users

  • i broke my medela electric swing, bought the medela hand-pump ($200+ vs $40). i can get 5oz out in about 5 min vs. 2 oz in 10 min with the electric pump. i love it. plus, i can pump as i do some piddly stuff around the house.

so efficiency and convenience is so much better - it's way easier to clean, too.

  • I have a Medela harmony and it's great! I use it at home to pump in the morning and keep by double electric at work.
  • I also have a Medela Harmony and I really like it.  I just bought an electric pump last week, so I've been using only a manual pump since DS was born (he's 5.5 weeks).  I usually only pump one breast and it takes me 10-15 minutes.  I'm planning to take it back and forth to work as a backup and bring it home on the weekends.  If I had to travel, I'd definitely use the manual since its so much easier to transport.

  • I also use the Medela hand pump $40 from Target.

I only have this pump so I have nothing to compare it to but I like it. Its pretty easy to tote around like to-from work and when I'm out shopping or something like that. It does take about 10-15 to pump each side but its not really that big of a deal to me. I also think its pretty easy to clean.
