  Whoa.  Not sure the back story (sorry), but if it helps....

  I spilled coffee on my laptop last week (oops) and it was typing giberish like your post.  I had fried the keyboard.  It ended up completely locking up.  We have a Dell Inspiron.  My husband took off the keyboard panel and cleaned up under it the best he could.  We ordered a new panel ($15 off amazon) and he replaced it and it works great! 

  We used an external keyboard that connects via USB and it worked until we got the new one, but it was a pain in the ass.  We left the fried keyboard off incase it was messing anything else up.

   Not sure if this applys or helps, but it's worth a shot.  Good luck!!!

  Is there something (crumb, paperclip, dried gunk) under your "e" key? Try standing it on it's end and hitting it a couple of times to see if something is lodged under there.

  Sometimes we just get goop under the keys on our laptop so I have to end up cleaning under the keys with compressed air and/or a brush or some of the keys won't work.

  If you want to be able to type until you are able to truly solve the problem, if you have Windows, go into the "accessories" folder and select the "on-screen keyboard". You can then use your mouse to click on the keyboard that displays on the screen. I hope you find that the problem is a minor/easy-to-fix one. GL!
