How many burp cloths?

How many burp cloths would you say you use in a day? Week? Trying to figure out how many I need. Thanks!

  • I use the same one all day to feed him (unless he spits up a ton!) then i always have one in my diaper bag and i replace it when i use it so, generally I go through about 10 a week

  • DS spits up a little after each feeding. We probably go through about 15 a week. We originally only had 10, and it wasn't enough. We got a bunch of hand-me-downs from my cousin.

  • I started with 4.  8 was still too few.  Now we have 12 and that is plenty.  I like the big flannel ones. I use one to protect my nursing pillow so I don't have to wash the cover so often.

this is what I do with the big ones too it's a big help! I keep a few stashed in different places just in case like changing table chair and couch I like to make sure I always have one around I even keep one under my pillow

  • We got a pack for the gerber clothe diapers, think it is an 8 pack, and then we got about 5 burp clothes with his name on it.  We go through anywhere from 2-5 a day, our guy spits up a lot.  I think its best to err on the side of having a few more so you don't have to wash them all the time.  Same thing with our receiving blankets, we have aden & anais, we have 8 of them, use them for swaddling him at night, cover while nursing, light blanket in the stroller on warmer days, etc.  8 is a good amount but another pack wouldn't be too bad.  Definetely glad I got these as they are light weight and it has been like summer here.
  • A million! We started with 6 and now have about 12. We do laundry every other day mainly for the burp clothes. I wouldn't say DH spits up more than any other kid, but I hate using soaking wet burp clothes, or crusty ones, ew. Also DS is a messy eater so they get dirty from that too.

  • I think we have 12 and that's plenty without being overkill.  I keep one in the LR in his PnP, one on the arm of the glider (those get replaced every day since they get used the most), one on my nightstand in case we need it in the middle of the night and one in the diaper bag.  They're all the Gerber prefolds which are AWESOME!

  • 1-4 a day.  We got 2 packs of 10 of the Gerber cloth diapers and love them. There is at least one in every room it seems. We use them for everything baby related.

  • Just playing devils advocate, but we only need to wash one a week. DD doesn't spit up (ok, that's a lie... she spit up for the first time EVER yesterday) and we therefore don't need them most of the time.

  • I have 9 that I go through every week, and I also have an abundance of bibs and washcloths that I use, along with the occasional receiving blanket

  • I have a very spitty/reflux baby and use anywhere from 4-6 a day. I too hate wet/crusty so I probably change more often sometimes.

  • I usually get away with just one all day.  I might use two if DS spits up a bunch or something but he's not much of a spitter upper.  DD was!  With her I often used several a day.

My DS is the same way.. He may spit up once a week and it's just a tiny bit.  I usually wipe his mouth with his bib if he has one on or with the corner of a receiving blanket.

  • I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many burp cloths! Even though we have a ton I feel like when we need one we have to track one down cause we are always leaving them random places lol.

  • i have a 12 pk of gerber white prefold diapers, 4-6 over the shoulder gerber burp clothes (which i have been using in the crook of my elbow during BF to keep her face un-sweaty), and a pack of colorful BRU prefolds.  she spits up massive at least once a day, so we will go through at least 3 prefolds usually. you really can't have too many- after we stopped using them with DD1 they became great dust rags.
  • We use about 3-4 a day for both babies combined. We keep reusing unless they threw up and it was used to clean up or if starts getting a little crusty. We live in a small one floor condo so we also don't need to worry about keeping some on different floors or in different rooms. Aside from the 3-4 that we use we leave one by the changing table and 1-2 in the diaper bag. I can't say enough good things about the Gerber pre folds for burp cloths. They're soft and very absorbent. If we were using standard burp cloths I bet we would use double the amount since they're so thin. I planned on using the pretty burp cloths but after a week bought a second pack of the Gerbers and we keep them in a stack next to their toy/book bin in our living room.

  • With DD we used the Gerber cloth diapers...  With DS  we're just using wash cloths.  I'd say we go through one per feeding, but sometimes if he doesn't spit up we'll get through two or three feedings with the same cloth...  All depends on the baby.  Sometimes we use bibs but not all the time...  I'd say two to three of the big packs of cheap wash cloths from Walmart (cheap is the way to go because formula stains them and this way you don't feel bad when you need to toss them out later on because of being so stained - or in the case of what I did, I used them for wiping cloths when I do staining and varnishing when they got stained from food beyond return)...
