Late Term and Child Loss

Update: Mother's Day Plans

After the post about plans I started thinking about what I wanted to do, I asked DH what he thought about getting away for the weekend and he was in.  So I've combined the date night I owe him for losing our march madness bet and a mother's day out.  We're going to spend a night in downtown SD and go out to a delicious dinner...then go to Coronado for the day on Sunday.  We got married in Coronado and always have a great time when we visit.  I know my mom may be upset, but I just explained to her that I don't want to go to the family brunch because while I recognize that I am a mom and that I get to celebrate that day too... other people will just think "oh how sad, poor her."  Yes, it's sad...but that's not what I want to focus on.  I'm excited for our little stay-cation and I hope you ladies are able to find something that will bring you the most peace on that day.  I encourage you not to worry about what anyone else will think, do what will be best for you.

Re: Update: Mother's Day Plans

  • Good for you!  Glad you're getting away.  I think what's been hard for me is that DH and I have different ideas of what we should do.  He wants to spend the day with his mom like he usually does, but this hurts me because I'm still the mother of his child and if we had a living child he would be spending the day with me.  I just want to stay home, but I don't want to be alone either.  On the plus side, we planned a trip for our anniversary in June to go back to Bar Harbor (where we were engaged).  So I'm looking forward to that.

  • I'm sorry you and DH aren't in agreement... my hubby's family lives on the East Coast, so it's only my family that we're choosing not to see, probably makes it easier.  I'm glad you have another trip to look forward to though!
