I love breastfeeding, but my 8 week old has been eating on demand since he was born, which usually translates to every 1-2 hours during the day and at most one 3 hour stretch at night. He has recently started to take a pacifier which will help hold him off a little longer, but I would really like to go at least 2 hours in between feedings. This is definitely not a supply issue, as he has plenty of dirty diapers and has gained more than 4 pounds since we left the hospital. He's happy and healthy but just loves eating. I think this is primarily a comfort or boredom issue, but I can't stand hearing him cry, so I feed him when he wants it. Does anyone have any suggestions to get him to go longer in between feedings?
Re: Breastfeeding almost every hour at 8 weeks?
The same thing is happening to me just at 6 weeks. He only naps during the day for 1.5 hours at most and then wakes up hungry.
How long is your baby eating for every hour? Right now my ds will only eat for like less than 10 minutes when he eats every hour. At night he'll eat pupmped milk from a bottle from my dh and it'll have 2-4 ounces and after that he'll sleep 3-6 hours before he wakes up again every 1-2 hours until we wake up for the day
