Sunscreen

So I have read that you shouldn't put sunscreen on a baby before 6 months unless you really have to cause you can't avoid the sun. I plan on asking my pedi this at ds 2 month appointment but in may we are moving to a very sunny and very hot place where I think we might be in te sub a lot. Does anyone have recommendations on how to avoid sunscreen or have you heard anything about I being  able to put sunscreen on?

    My pedi & I just discussed this. He said to keep LO out of direct sun light (as much as possible) until at least six months old and do not use sunscreen prior to six months due to the chemicals and absorption.. something along those lines. I had already put sunscreen on my LO one time (eeek!) lol and he said not to worry just don't continue to do it. I guess it gives you a good reason to go shopping for some cute hats?

    I just bought a Brica car seat cover that stretches over the car seat and blocks UV rays. Got it at BRU. Haven't tried it yet, but other people on the bump have commented on how well they like it.

    Lol I know I think I'm going to look for a tent type thingy. But the chemicals are what I was worried about too because I already try to avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone in them and when my mother in law was visiting she bought me and my sister in law (whos baby is 3 weeks older than mine) sunscreen for our babies. I made sure it didn't have oxybenzone in it but I didn't want to make her feel bad in telling her I didn't think I could use it until 6 months because it was my sister in law who really wanted to get it so we could take the babies outside (she's older than me and does't like it when i correct her about anything so I just mind my business and do my own stuff)

    I just looked that up and I can't believe how reasonably priced it is! thanks for the suggestion! We have family where we are moving and my niece lives there and plays soccer and always wants me and dh to come watch when we visit so I know when we live there shes going to want us there at like every game and I'd feel bad if we couldn't make it to a few

    My dermatologist told me if you can't avoid the sun it's best to use a chemical-free option like the Dr. Robin brand (which was actually made by a pediatric dermatologist). She even said she used it on own her daughter when she was under six months.
