30 weeks and still havent felt BH?

I dont think I have experienced Braxton hicks yet...I'm not sure because this is my first pregnancy. I hear that it usually starts around 28 weeks. Are there others that have not experienced BH yet?

Re: 30 weeks and still havent felt BH?

  • You've definitely had them, you just haven't felt them. I remember way back when I was getting a u/s at 9wks the OB said "oh look, a contraction". Then explained that it happens throughout pregnancy as the uterus "getting ready".

Now I only feel them once a day or so. Its like a fist closing tight in the front of my belly.

  • I'm very confused by Braxton hicks. I'm starting to think that what I thought was baby's slow movement could possibly be bh? I have no clue!!!

  • I didn't have anything noticeable with my first until 35 weeks. This time I have had a few here and there but nothing to noticeable.

Same for me except this time I have been getting pretty stong contractions from the beginning of the pregnancy because I have been nursing.  Fun times.

  • I didn't have BH with my first pregnancy.

With this pregnancy, I had a few Christmas night and none since.

I'm happy about that. Don't want them!

This for me too.  The only thing I get is a downward pressure when I walk too quickly or go up the stairs.  But, I don't think that's BH.

  • I didn't have any (or atleast didn't feel any) at all with my first pregnancy.

Then with my second I had them from 35 weeks on, fairly regularly.

With this one, no BH yet.

Don't worry, BH aren't necessary, or you might have them and not really feel them.

  • With my first pregnancy, I never knew I was having them and was actually in labor at 34 weeks!  I always just thought I was on my feet too long and was tired...and just in general pain.  :)

  • I've heard it described as a tightening of the belly for a short time by other ladies. I haven't felt any yet either though! Good to know Im not alone!

  • I think I felt my first one last night but wasn't sure if it was BH.. it was like my stomach got really really hard. I don't know how else to describe it.

  • I never felt a single one when pregnant with my son. The only kind of contractions I ever had were being in labour. My doctor said that it's perfectly normal.

Each pregnancy and mother and child is different. Embrace not feeling them, they can be very irritating :D

  • I don't think I've had them either.  Nothing tightening in my belly or anything.

  • Everyone has them starting early in their pregnancy. Not everyone feels them. I haven't felt any yet and I am 30 weeks as well

  • I posted this exact question on the FB group last night. I got an overwhelming response that it is completely normal to not feel them and many FT mom's don't have them at all. For the record, I will be 32 weeks tomorrow (omg) and I haven't felt any.

This is exactly what happened to me with my first baby...didn't know I was having BH until they hooked me up to the fetal monitor, I felt them, just didn't know what they were.

I'm 30 weeks now and have them 4-6 times a day. Hard not to notice now b/c they take my breath away!!!
