On Tuesday 4/3 I went to my 39w appt. fully expecting my MW to strip the membranes, nothing happening for a week and then having to be induced for being overdue. Well I got there and since my MW was delivering at the hospital they put me on the monitors I think to waste time because there was no reason I needed an NST. Anyway, baby did great on the monitors. They took my blood pressure and it was 121/96. They were concerned about the bottom number so after the appt. they retook it. During my appt. she stripped my membranes and I had no idea she did it. I thought she was just checking me so it didn't bother me at all. They retook my BP and it was 121/100 ( I think it went up because I was nervous now). And they noticed a trace of protein in my urine. So off to L&D I went for observation and testing.
My BP did go down but since they found protein in the urine and my reflexes were brisky as they called it (another sign of pre-e. I had NO swelling) they decided to induce me. THere was no point with me being 39w2d to come back every couple days to check BP and such. I was really really bummed I was getting induced but it was for the best.
So at 2:30pm they started the pitocin. It was a loooooooong day. I was 3 cm and 50% effaced ALL day. They upped the pitocin every half hour but I really wasn't progressing. So they decided to leave the pitocin where it was and the dr. would come in in the morning to break my water and get things going.
Well around 11:15pm my contractions instantly started getting worse. I was texting a fellow bumpie and had to stop because the contrax were so intense. They were coming every 2-3 minutes and when they were done I keep feeling like I had to pee. So I just relaxed and said to hell with it if I pee'd myself. Next thing I know (this was around 11:40) I was "peeing" in the bed. My DH had fallen asleep so I woke him up and he couldn't believe it since I hadn't progressed all day. I called the nurse in and she checked me and did the fluid swab check and said it was indeed my water. I was at a 5. Since the contractions were so intense I had her order the epidural. I got up because I was having diarrhea and I felt like I had to go some more. So here I am on the toilet going to the bathroom and having the worst contractions ever. That sucked. I walked over to the bed when I had finished and felt this huge urge to push. It was about midnight at this point. She checked me and I was an 8 1/2. The anestesiologist just got there and when he heard I was an 8 he said he couldn't do it because I would be moving too much with the contractions. As he said that I told the nurse I needed to push NOW. She was tellling me to not push and that the dr. was on her way. Let me tell you, when you really have to push you CAN NOT NOT push. She was having me breathe long and slow as I was but I was pushing naturally as well. She checked me and told the other nurse "she's complete. head is crowning, I am going to have to deliver this baby". She had the anestesiologist come in the room so there was an actual dr. in there (less paper work for them too). One push and out came the head. I rested for a few seconds until next contraction and pushed (and screamed) and the rest of her body came out. Instant relief. Brynn Rose was born at 12:21am on 4/4/12. She weighed 8lb1oz , 19 1/2in.
I later found out that they made the call to my midwife at 12:16am I was an 8 1/2 and that she better get there. Brynn was born at 12:21 and my midwife showed up at 12:26. So it was a very fast delivery. Painful but I went in there not wanting a epi and I am glad it went too fast for me to get one.
We are both doing great. She is absolutely perfect and very calm. Only barely fusses when she gets hungry and doesn't like sponge baths. We are so in love and her sisters can't get enough of her as well.
