As you all know.. We are moving back north.. The kids and I are
Flyjng back to Boston w my MIL (that's a different post!) while my DH drives
One of the cars and dogs back north.. Anyway I am on my way to target to get a kit together for the plane ride.. Any helpful tips would be great!!
Re: Give me your best toys/distraction items for a 20mth old on a airplane
We are flying tomorrow with both kids. As lap children. We may be crazy.
But our entire plan of attack involves the iPad, headphones, season 3 of caillou on the iPad, cheddar bunnies, and a spinning light up want toy I just bought at target for $5.
Ha!
Because we're fancy like that.
Because we're fancy like that.
We got jake a set but no car seat this time.. We just down loaded 3 seasons of sesame street on to the iPad..
Are you bringing the double stroller or wearing H and bringing the single? That's my tentative plan as of now..
S
There is no way I am hauling, disassembling, and gate checking the CS. Ha! Too big of a pain and I would be so worried about it getting damaged. Someday when H is big enough, I will get a lightweight double, though... We are bringing the single lightweight (gate checking) and I will wear H. For a 5 day trip, I figure he doesn't need a stroller. I can wear him anytime we go for a walk or something.
We are bringing both of their car seats but checking them with our luggage. (OMG, we are checking so much crap for 5 days!!!! Thank goodness we have an airline credit card that gives us free checked bags...)
Because we're fancy like that.
Of course, I can't remember how old your kiddos are, but we did the 5 hour flight twice in the past week and DDs love the DVD player and iPad with Dora and Diego. Stickers were also a huge hit. I also have some luck with the little packages of Smarties that I've gotten from the Target $1 bin. Each pack has 2 or 3 Smarties in it so they last for a while because DDs have to open them and get out the candy.
ETA: Duh, I guess I should have read the post title more closely. I think stickers will work well at that age.

For a trip of around 3 hours, you cannot go wrong with food, food and more food. Food is the best on domestic trips!
Goldfish, milk, pouch food (like Happy Tot pouches or the like), yogurt melts, bananas, crackers - whatever he likes. Honestly, just keep rotating food and you'll be there before you know it!
Other things that work for us: stickers (Will took best to sheets of stickers), books from the dollar section at Target (there are a ton of Sesame Street ones - or there were a few weeks ago before we went on our big trip), even catalogs from the mail (Will had some fun going through/ripping up a pottery barn kids catalog we brought for that purpose). And other books! Bring some favorite books, especially the lift the flap kind!
But honestly, food and naps are the best way to survive domestic travel with a toddler!
Good luck!
