Bumbo alternatives?

Does anyone have the Mamas & Papas baby snug seat (sold at BRU) or the bebePod?  If so, do you like it?  Does it seem better than the Bumbo?  I got the Bumbo and play tray at my baby shower, but now that LO is here and ready for one of these seats, I don't think the Bumbo fits her well.

TIA!

Re: Bumbo alternatives?

  • I have a bebe pod.  I bought it used for DS1 and he hated it.  DS2 will use it for a few minutes at a time, but he's not a huge fan either.  I will be selling it soon.  I am glad I did not buy it new because it's kind of a waste of money, IMO.

  • We didn't have anything like that - one less baby gear thing to find a spot for in the house.

  • Thanks for the responses so far.  It sounds like you didn't find a need for the seat at all.... so I'm wondering whether your LO didn't want to be positioned upright before s/he could sit unassisted OR did you use something else?

DD sat in her bouncer, until we started practicing sitting up.  Then we sat behind her to help her sit upright and to entertain her while she practiced, and also used the Boppy sometimes.

  • Children seem to get almost bored in it because there is nothing to do unless you have a tray and can put some toys on it or put them near the toy bar so they can grab for things.  Thats just my take on it.

  • We had a bumbo, but I've heard good things about the Summer Infant one that someone linked.

We used it for a high chair when DS was first starting out on solids (just after 4 months). We switched him to the high chair around 6 months, but that sucker was awesome when he was just starting out. All of the food drippings would land in or on the bumbo, then he'd grab the spoon and rub it all over the outside of the seat... it was sooo easy to just throw the thing in the sink and hose it down.

  • We had a bumbo and a bebe pod. Personally, we liked the bebe pod better since LO sat lower in it so it supported his back more. Also, the areas for the legs are bigger so you don't have to worry about there fat legs getting stuck.

  • We have the Snug Seat and I really like it.  The shape seems like it would be really hard for her to tip over and it's good to use in different places. We'll take it outside with us or I'll put her in the center of the kitchen counter in it while I cook or do dishes.  I would say though that it's not a must.  We like it but we could live without it.
