so my DD has a rash under her neck and after all these weeks of applying aquaphor and other diaper rash creams, we finally took her to the ped and she has a fungal rash. anyone else experience this?
We have a ton of problems keeping DS's neck folds clean. They always smell disgusting. Which now has me questioning the "fungal" part. Occassionally he has little red bumps.
The pedi never said anything the last time he had his appointment. What does the rash look like?
Sorry I'm being more noisy than helpful .

Our kiddo occasionally gets "neck cheese" where drips of drool and formula collect in his neck folds. And he hates stretching his neck out for us! We wipe it down with a warm washcloth after feedings and hit it with a wet wipe during changings to keep things "fresh." But I dunno - would neck cheese be considered a fungal rash?
Yup my son had one once. My doc prescribed some anti fungal cream and it went away no problem and never came back. Its apparently pretty common and my doc wasn't the least bit shocked.
When Ana was about 3-4 weeks old she got what I kinda thought was baby acne. Well then it kind of spread like everywhere on her head - behind the ears, her neck, the top of her head. I brought her to the pedi and she said its form of adult dandruff which is apparently fungal. So two - three times a week I washed her with Selsun Blue (pedis orders) and at night before bed I would put aquaphor on it; it cleared up in about a month. Now I just wash her like once a week with the Selsun Blue just bc I am afraid it will come back.
DS has lots of neck rolls that are hard to keep clean - so at our 2 month pedi appt I pointed it out to the DR and she said it wasn't fungal yet, but gave us a prescription for an anti-fungal cream to use in case it did turn fungal. So far we have managed to keep it away, but we keep him in a bib during the day to catch all his drool and make sure to wash neck everyday. I've found that doing tummy time I can get to his neck really well, so while he is doing naked tummy time after a bath I make sure his neck is clean. I'll also let it air out and then put diaper rash cream on it. Seems to be working well for us, we haven't seen the red bumps in a few weeks. I'm worried about summer and the hot weather though, because E is a hot mess and at 18lbs at 15 weeks, he has lots of rolls on his legs and arms. We are having a hard time keeping those clean and dry from sweat.
Make sure to let LO's neck dry, and then you can use diaper cream in the folds to keep a rash from forming. It's pretty much just like the diaper area. DS spits up constantly and he hates lifting up his chin to let me air his neck out!

i noticed DS' was raw and bright red, we started putting the earth mama angel baby butt cream on it and so far it's kept anything more serious away. i was shocked though when i first noticed it, it was disgusting. DH does all of the baths, so i never saw it.
i think a fungal rash is normal neck cheese gone bad. in any case, i'm sad that i didn't know about it sooner. she scratches at it while i'm feeding her which is kind of cute but kind of sad.
