Anyone try aversion w/ breech baby

At last weeks appointment my dr said if baby is breech we would do a RCS, which I scheduled for my due date. Well got ultrasound today and she is breech. Had my weekly visit this afternoon and now dr (different dr in same practice) says we can try an aversion to she if she will move. He thinks she is in a good position to move and may do it on her own.

The risks are that my water breaks or the procedure puts me into labor and she doesn't turn and I will need RCS. The procedure can be painful and I may need an epidural for it. I really think I have to try it just to say I did all I could for VBAC.

Anyone have any experience with an aversion?

I would try moxibustion before trying a version. It's an acupuncture based heat therapy that has a 70-80% success rate. Contact your local acupuncturists to see if any offer it. If that doesn't work, I'd still try a version before scheduling a c-section. DD was breech, and we tried moxibustion but I went into labor hours after the procedure, so I didn't even get the time to see if it would work!

They attempted a version with my son who was frank breech. You do not need an epidural, it was uncomfortable but not too painful that I couldn't handle i with no meds. Ours was not sucessful as his butt engaged my cervix instead of his head and I was already in early labor having decent contactions when we got there. Before they even attempted it I was already dialating so we had nothing to lose. My dr attempted but his butt was so wedge into my pelivis that he couldn't get him to budge even a little bit so we ended up with a csection that day.

I would also look into spinning babies and other exercises and positions you can do to try to get baby to flip before the appt if you decide to do it.

I agree. Uncomfortable but no epidural. No real need for one. I thought the feeling was more of like a massage therapist getting a good knot out of your back. Dr got DD2 turned about half way but each time she let go, baby would return to head up.

It's called a version, specifically an external cephalic version. Not an aversion Wink

I had one at 37 weeks 4 days with my DS2. I didn't get an epidural. And my DS got halfway around before he wouldn't go anymore. He went back to being breech. I ended up with a c/s.

I tried a version with my DD#2. She didn't budge so I ended up with my first c/s about a week later. The procedure was quite painful for me. They give you treb to get your uterus to relax, but I didn't get en epi. Her h/r dropped the first attempt so they gave me an oxygen mask. They tried a couple of more times after that, but she just would not flip. So we gave up. Versions are only about 50% successful, but it is worth a shot if you can avoid a c/s.

Yes! I send all of my breech ladies to an acupuncturist. Try it first, and fast!

Ditto LeggyNic. I tried one with DD (baby #1) and while it was uncomfortable, no epidural needed. We attempted at 37 weeks and she got about halfway around, then would turn head up again. She was the reason for my C-section the first time around.
