Table and Chairs - which set...

Ok general conclusion was table and chairs she can grow into and wait on the kitchen.

OK, now which one (it will be going into our front room). This one:

Or something like this from PBK or Land of Nod:

OR go for this bad boy that does it all:

This has the storage underneath, paper roll, it can grow (you add different leg heights) and allows you add to chairs now or later. We can buy the pieces seperately when she is developmentaly ready.

Or am I over thinking this? Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Table and Chairs - which set...

  • I should also mention we have a ton of toddler toys already (I saw those suggestions in my other post). My SIL has given us a Fisher Price walker push thing, a Laugh and Learn house, an activity table, etc. I don't want another toy taking up our storage space that she will just grow out of. I want something she can grow into. KWIM?

  • lol - you are totally overthinking this, but isn't it fun?

The first one is ridiculously cute, and wouldn't make your front room look like a complete playroom.  But that last one is kickass, very functional with I think you will appreciate.

  • I review that last one from Land of Nod all the time. People seem to love it. The reviews I've read are always really good. I think it would be reallly versatile and something she could use for a long time.

  • That last one looks awesome, I'd probably skip the bins tho (but that might just be me).

but it seems like it'll go through school so that's cool.

  • I totally covet that last one.  If it was slightly in the budget I would be all over it.Yes

and ditto to this.  I honestly do not think I have ever seen a bad review for that table.

  • I too love the last one and almost bought it.   However, I decided against it for now because I wanted something that DD could use sooner.

We decided to get this one from PBK and I placed the order yesterday.   https://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/dt171/index.cfm?pkey=cplay%2Dtable%2Dchairs%7Ck

Well then yesterday afternoon I went to IKEA and saw this one.  https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/87474709

Of course the IKEA one is MUCH cheaper so I was lucky enough to be able to cancel my PBK order and we're going with the IKEA one.  I kind of like that I can paint or stain the IKEA one however I want.  It's much smaller in scale than the Land of Nod table/chairs so DD can use it a lot earlier.  Once DD outgrows it, we'll get something bigger (like the Land of Nod one) that will last for many years.  And now that I've bought the cheaper IKEA one, I don't feel so bad if she can't use it forever.  I justified buying a smaller table right now thinking we'll use it for future children as well.  But even if we don't have other children for some reason, I won't feel bad spending $40 on this table/chairs.

  • You are definitely not over thinking it! ?I say this out of experience, because our table and chairs set get the most use out of any item in the house, hands down. ?We have a set from community playthings, was a gift from my mom, and she swears by them. ?The quality is exceptional. ?

But I love the ones you have chosen too!?

  • The last one is big, but it will definitely be something she would grow into!

  • I'm not a parent of a toddler, so my opinion is purely from a style asthetic.

I lurve the PBK one, but I'm a PK whooore so I'd probably get anything from them regardless of what it looks like.

The Land of Nod one is really great too, but I'm not a big fan of the storage bins....it makes it look like a giant coffee table & not an "activity" table.  The adjustable legs are really great.

The Lipper & Comfort 1st tables look exactly like what they are....kids tables.  They also seem a bit small, so depending on what exactly you're wanting DD to be able "do" on the table.  It seems like once she gets older the tabletop will be too small.

....again, this is not from a "functional" perspective at all so please take my opinion with a (giant) grain of salt!!

  • We have this set from Ikea: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/87474709. It's small and compact. It comes in unfinished wood, and you can stain or paint it however you like. Plus it's cheap. I probably wouldn't spend $100 or more on a small table and chair set she won't even use right  now.
