Mild cramping--is this Braxton Hicks?

I've been having mild abdominal cramping (feels like period cramps) on and off every 10-15 minutes for the past few hours.  I've been laying on the couch on my left side as much as possible.  My stomach isn't tightening or anything, just a cramping feeling.  Is that what Braxton Hicks feel like?  I ate dinner and have had plenty of water.  The cramping doesn't really hurt and it isn't getting worse or anything.  I already have an appointment tomorrow at 4:15 pm so I'm hoping I can just wait it out till then.  Thoughts?

  • When I get them my stomach gets amazingly hard and I don't feel cramping down low at all. I think in my birthing class, the teacher said that braxton hicks are usually up high and not low like real contractions. I would call your doctor. You might be having real ones.

  • When I get BH they're pretty painful and my abdomen gets really tight for a little while.

But I have menstrual-like cramps every few weeks, and it's usually right before I have a noticeable growth spurt.   You might just be stretching out and feeling growing pains!

  • braxton hicks are painless contractions. they are irregular and not timeable and should not feel like period cramps. u should give a call just to be on the safer side.

  • No, these are more like real contractions and I would let dr know!  Drink plenty of water/ stay hydrated.  BH are when your tummy gets real tight and it goes away pretty quickly

  • I've had the same period like cramping off and on for a week.  Talked to the Dr and she said they are most likely just muscle soreness and that it is my body telling me to slow down.  She also said that if I notice bleeding or fluid leakage, or they start getting significantly worse or more frequent to call the office.

Hope your Dr was able to reassure you!
