All these cramps for nothing?!?!?

WARNING: this is a totally pointless rant.

Just had my 38 week appointment. Despite a huge increase in period-like cramping that became more intense today, I have remained the same since last week- 80% effaced with no dilation.

If I was 38 weeks with no symptoms, I would be disappointed but could deal with it since, let's face it, I'm not at my due date yet. Having had this cramping consistently now for 4 days with no change in anything, though, makes me want to pull my hair out. Damn cervix!

I hear you! I made no progress from week 36 to week 37 despite lots of menstrual like cramping (no actual contractions though.) I know it seems silly since neither of us are at our EDDs, but still!

Same here. I thought for sure all these contractions were doing something but Nope. Nothing. And I'm due in a couple days. My Dr. Even felt me having a contraction. Grrrr.

At least you have some progress. I'm PAST my due date with a LONG cervix with NO effacement and NO dilation at all.

I'm only 37 weeks but i'm the same way. I've been having BH since 20w and was put on modified bedrest at 32 weeks until I hit 35 weeks due to my cervix already starting to soften and shorten...on tuesday when I got checked I was still only starting to open and as my dr says it "extremely soft"...but she doesn't give me a percentage. I have asked about a 39 week induction due to him being big and my swelling being extremely bad and she said that we'd talk about it when i hit 38 weeks and that my cervix has to be ready...but I didn't get a definition of a ready cervix...lol...so i'm hoping I qualify!

I'm with you as well. Ive had cramping with moderately painful contractions since 37 weeks and today's check resulted in nothing! I am long and closed. WTF?? I am letting go of any hopes to be holding my baby on Easter. Still hoping I get to go into labor naturally.

I am sorry, I know how much it SUCKS to hear there has been no progress made even though you're having cramps, etc. I have been 1cm, 60-70% effaced for 3 weeks now, and I thought I was going into labor at least 3 or 4 times since. Although at EVERY appointment, I am still 1 whopping cm. On Tuesday during my NST, I was having contractions every 5 mins or so, but they were pretty small and obviously insignificant. Its very, VERY irritating.

I fell asleep at 11pm last night only to wake up at 1:30 with what I thought were gas cramps, but nope I was having contractions. Around 4 they got pretty painful and regular (every 4 to 7 minutes apart), my dr gave a choice to go into L&D or to come into the office when they opened.

I went to his office at 9 with bags in tow thinking this was it for sure. After 8 hours of contractions I have a thick cervix and no dilation, but there was some bloody show when the np checked my cervix. I fine with lo staying in for the next few weeks, but if I have to have contractions, I'd like them to do something.

Same here- I had a bunch of cramping from my 39-40 week appointments, and was still not dilated and was posterior. I thought for sure I would have changed a little

I had my 38 week app. today as well. I had no change from the last two weeks and I just totally wanted to cry. My boys were so late and it seems like this little girl is heading for the same thing. I have done a lot of prayer and I am just trying to stay positive and patient.

Ugh, it sucks! When I went in for my 36w (4d) check up I was 1cm 50%, I had nearly 2wks of intense prodromal labor.. two weeks later (38w 4d) NOTHING, no change... another week of cramping and 1 hellish night of prodromal labor, went in today (39w 4d) and got checked... NOTHING again! Most frustrating thing ever!

And this is why I decline the internal exams...last pregnancy I never showed any progress and it was so frustrating. My last appt was at 39 weeks 2 days, and nothing. Water broke and went into labor naturally 3 days later. I'm having a ton of contractions, and have been for the last few weeks, but I didn't bother with an exam today. Baby will be here soon enough, and no exam is going to change when they decide to come...(as much as I wish it would!!)
