Let the obsessing begin...

My 2WW stress and obsessing has begun.  I had some pink spotting this morning.  Although I know spotting is normal, it freaked me out a little.  Then I started questioning if it could be implantation spotting.  Is it too early post transfer for that?

Like Worms would say "I want to be sedated"!

  • I think it could possibly be implantation spotting. You have a beta in 4 days. That is so short. It would be nice to be able to hibernate and sleep the entire 2WW!

I know it!  I think my RE has the beta scheduled so many days after trigger, as opposed to transfer.  I'm not sure what the national standard of practice is for betas draws.

  • I want to be sedated!

How many dp is first beta?  are you considered 6dt?

Here is what's going on right now

What Happens After an Embryo Transfer?

Once you complete your embryo transfer, you will have approximately 1? weeks to wait before a pregnancy can be detected. The following tables outline an approximate timeline for what happens during a successful pregnancy after a 3-day transfer (3dt) and a 5-day transfer (5dt).

    3-Day Transfer

    Days Past
    Transfer (DPT)
     Embryo Development
One The embryo continues to grow and develop, turning from a 6-8 cell embryo into a morula
Two The cells of the morula continue to divide, developing into a blastocyst
Three The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
Four The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
Five The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
     Six Implantation continues
Seven Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop
Eight Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
Nine Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Ten Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Eleven Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy

    5-Day Transfer

    Days Past
    Transfer (DPT)
    Embryo Development
One The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
Two The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
Three The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
    Four Implantation continues
Five Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop
Six Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
Seven Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Eight Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Nine Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy

    imagetheworms:

    I want to be sedated!

How many dp is first beta?  are you considered 6dt? my beta is scheduled 6dp6dt.

    imagetheworms:

that is a really early beta.

is this one where you get beta and then repeat 2 days later and then they tell after second draw?

I'm not sure when they will call me with the results.  The problem is I work in the hospital where I will have my labs drawn.  I am aloud and able to view my results via our intranet, so I will have the results before my RE's office.

I am considering emailing my nurse to ask her why my beta is so early.  My RX says 4/9 and the 2nd beta will be on 4/11.  Reading Dr. S.her's blog he wrote

"As soon as an embryo begins to implant and its root system (trophoblast) begins to invade the uterine lining (endometrium/decidua), it starts to release the ?pregnancy hormone? human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) into the recipient's blood stream. About 12 days after egg retrieval, 9 days after a day-3 embryo transfer and 7 days after a blastocyst transfer, the woman should have a quantitative beta hCG blood pregnancy test performed."

The 9th is 12 days after my ER, but it's only 6 days past blastocyst transfer.

Most IF women do not ask this question, but do you ladies think it will be too early?  Should I ask for a later beta to avoid false results?

I think I will keep my beta on the 9th and 11th.  I work on the 10th and 12th, I do not want to lose my sh!t at work.  I will keep in mind that the beta will be low; truthfully I am mostly interested in it doubling.
