Bedsharing = Burps?

I'm a FTM, so I have no idea what is "normal", but it seems like DS has an inordinate amount of burps. Some of them are painful for him and he still needs help to get them out. My mom is convinced that he is getting all of these burps because of all the side-lying we do. She said that if I just sat him up more while nursing, he wouldn't have as many burps. Anyone else have a similar experience?

  • We do lots of side-lying nursing and LO burps no more than when we nurse in other positions. Perhaps the burps are related to something else?

    That's what I was wondering: if others had lots of burps, or just a normal amount. I think it's because he hasn't figured out the whole laughing thing yet. He giggles occasionally, but mostly just waves his tongue around and has lots of little gasps. I think he swallows a lot of air when he does that. It is cute, though.
