This is the first time I've been able to post since announcing my induction Wednesday of last week. We went in Thursday and they started me on pitocin about 8 AM. The pain was manageable and I just waited for the pain of labor to out weigh the fear of a needle in my back. About 11:30 the MW broke my water and soon after the contractions got more uncomfortable and I moved from the bed to the birthing ball. Unfortunately, the tub wasn't an option because of the pitocin and blood pressure monitors. A little after 4 PM, my dad stopped to check on me and said, "you haven't put that girl out on the street yet, lets speed it up" and left. Shortly after, I went to the bathroom to poop without success and decided I wanted to try the IV pain medicine. The nurse went to get my MW after I announced my bathroom intentions and when they got me back in the bed, I was told it was time to push. I had gone from 4 to 10 cm in 4 1/2 hours so it was too late for any help. After 1 hour of pushing, Ariel Noelle was born at 4:53 PM weighing 7 lb 9 oz and 21 in. long and quaking like a duck. Unfortunately, it took her awhile to turn pink, so they took her to special care and she has been there since. She either had an infection or liquid in her lungs that slowed their developement. She has finished her antibiotics, and now her main issue is her oxygen levels. Baby girl's lungs just aren't ready to take in the amount of oxygen she needs on her own. We were hoping to have her home by Easter, but it will probably be next week at the earliest. I ended up having an unmedicated induced birth and have decided If I have another, I will get the epidural. I also have a few pics since it's been a week since her birth. It's been hard adjusting to not having her with us and I've needed some time to deal with everything. Sorry I've probably missed a few of our April babies born in the past week. I'll catch up though.
