Baby is head down!

I posted about this on the Natural Birth board as well, but I had a midwife appointment yesterday and it looks like this baby turned and is head down. It took TWO midwives to figure it out. Has anyone else's provider had a tough time feeling the position of the baby? My midwife had to call in an older midwife who listened for the heartbeat and then did an internal exam to confirm baby was head down. They said this baby has a hard rump. They also said it was rare to have such a hard time figuring out position. Anyone else have this happen? With my DS they had a tough time too. I wonder what factors go into this?

  • I dunno about difficulty finding position but YAY for a head-down baby!  Must be a huge relief for you at this late stage.  With this DD, I've known she is head-down for forever now, mainly through feeling where she is during BH contrax, midwife appts (locating HR can clue them in some, maybe), and feeling kicks and especially the hiccups!  Very low in my abdomen.  So neat!

My little girl is head down as well. And she only likes the right side for her feet and arms! My belly has been very lopsided lately. My 5 year old god daughter even told me that Ella (LO) looks funny when she lays like that hahaha

I don't know if size would have a way of making it harder or easier, but I know my last apt she moved around so much that my Dr. had a hard time getting a heart beat and said that her positions were changing all the time. Thank god she clammed down for this apt! I was even able to sleep last night!!! Fingers crossed this happens more often!

  • I went to my 35 wk appt yesterday and my Ob couldn't tell if he had flipped head up or not, he has been head down since around 28 wks. So, he did an ultrasound to see and LO is head down but really really low and that made it hard for the dr to feel the top of his head. Are you carrying low too?
