car seat suggestions??

Which convertible seat should I get? We will have to get 2 (one for each car) and my parents will need one as well. Any suggestions? Should I get the "all in one" kind that goes all the way to a booster seat? Overwhelmed!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you  need to purchase 3, I would go for something economical, at least for 1 or 2 of the choices.

The Graco Classic Ride 50 is our secondary seat, and it's $99.99 at Target. So far, we love it.

The Cosco Scenera is another one that is well rated but isn't expensive at all. I think it's in the $50 range. A third is the Evenflo Tribute, which is in the $60 range.

Our primary seat is the Graco My Ride 65. It's about $160  when not on sale. We like it ok, but we don't love it.

  • I originally bought an Eddie Bauer seat for around $100 from BJ's. I found out it wasn't rear facing so was pointless to keep for me but it was a nice car seat despite that. So if you're buying 2 thats not a bad price. We own an alpha omega also purchased from Bj's and I like that too other than the latch is one where you piece the two together. thats $89.99 at Bj's and I use as my secondary car seat. Toys R us sell this car seat for waaaay more and I don't understand why it appears to be the same dam seat. Anyway.. I did ALOT of research and ended up buying Safety First complete Air and I really do love it. The side head rests are a little big but I certainly feel good about the added protection, I haven't tried but I bet they can be removed. This was on sale at Toys R us for $149.99 but sears did a price match plus 10% on the difference so I bought it there, I like them better. This car seat takes them pretty far weight and height wise (this was a huge consideration for me) so when the time comes a $20 Graco booster is all we will need later on.

  • We went with the Graco My Ride 65 and really like it.  We were able to get it for about $140 at Target.  It is kind of big though.

  • We are getting the Evenflo Triumph. Good reviews by consumer reports and good price.

I LOVE my Evenflo Symphony 65e3. It fits great in the backseat of my Camry (RF'ing). I love that you will never have to rethread the straps, it's comfortable, has great reviews by consumers, and is SUPER easy to install. I don't know if I would have wanted to buy three of them for the price but definitely a great seat for the main car. I got it on Amazon for about $60 cheaper than BRU or BBB.
  • We have a safety 1st onside air and we love it. It fits nicely in the backseat of our hatchback and it was about $100 on sale.

  • We have a Britax one and love it. DS had a Graco one, I would recommend that as well.

  • I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but we bought 2 Britax car seats and we HATE them.  The straps are always getting tangled, but I am wondering if that is every care seat.  I just wish I had done more research.

  • We bought britax roundabout 55's. I got them on diapers.com for $100 with free shipping.  They sell the 50 at target but I didn't like the feel of the fabric very much. I don't think the huge weight range on some of these seats is practical. I don't know that I weighed 100 lbs at 12 yrs old. So 70/80 lbs is a lot for the age of child. I don't know that an 8 yrs old is going to want Tao sit in the same seat he's been in since 12 mos. So get a seat you like the setup of and get a cheap booster later.
