It never occured to me when I had my c/s with dd, but recently I've been wondering.. with all that pressure pushing, pulling and tugging, do mama's poop during a c/s? It's not really a concern to me, just a curiosity, anyone know?
Well, generally your stomach is empty because you have to be NPO before a C/S. Unless of course it's an emergency c/s. So chances of having anything in there are slim. I don't think you'd poop during a c/s in the same way you would during a vaginal delivery. The reason so many moms poop during vaginal deliveries is because you are using the exact same muscles to bear down and push the baby out, that you use to push poop out.
I didn't, and mine wasn't scheduled. There's pulling and tugging upward and no pushing and bearing down, which is why you poop during a vaginal delivery.
Umm, welllllllll, I'm a special consideration, because I have Crohn's Disease.
I was in recovery, all nice and numb, and DH was sitting beside the gurney when he said, "What's that smell?!" lol In fact, it happened twice in recovery. My intestines and colon were numb and just let loose. I had no idea.
We laughed then, and still to this day. So much for nothing to eat past midnight the night before!
No but before they put the catheter in, I got sick from the nasty drink they give you to neutralize the acids in your stomach and everytime I threw up (all with like 3 minutes) I did pee, I remember throwing up trying to say "Im sorry but everytime I puke, I am peeing" they were so nice though..they told me not to worry, but I was mortified at the time. I dont really think about it though unless a question like this comes up, so I must not have been too embarassed!

I'm an OB nurse and can tell you I have never had a patient poop during Csection. I Guess it's possible though, but not typical because you are not the one pushing, the docs are.
I don't think I ever did... I did throw up during two of my three c-sections. Lovely, eh?
I puked too. It was gross bc it was like a slimy scrambled egg vomit. I didnt think I could vomit bc I hadnt eaten anything well almost 24 hrs... but I did.
