Babies: 6 - 9 Months

suggestion for moms of spitters : )

DS will be 8 months next week and was STILL spitting up a ton.  He's healthy, active, and a happy spitter so weren't worried-just tired of cleaning up spit up.

Two days ago I had forgotten to run water for his morning bottle so we gave it to him with cold water from the fridge ice maker...no spit up.  Two days later, still no major spit up.  I just assumed that cold water would cause more!  We're going to do a few more days of this and then maybe switch to bottles straight from the fridge-mixed ahead of time-so colder.

I realize this may not work for every baby, but I wish I would have tried it sooner!!

  • Interesting...we'll have to try that.  Thanks!

Our LO hadn't been spitting up for about a month and then all the sudden he started to again.  Weird, right?

I'd be so bummed if he quit and then started again-haha!  Maybe teething...all the extra drool.

  • I may need to try this.  DD just projectile spit up on me.  I had never seen that and had only heard about it. DISGUSTING!!  Probably didn't wanna know any of this, did ya? :)

  • I can't wait for DS to stop spitting. It's awful. I also can't wait to get him off of the Zantac.

Though DS is BF, so I don't know... I guess I could chill my boobs before feeding him. LOL - sorry, that was beyond dumb but I'm tired and had a mental picture of me hanging out in a walk-in freezer. Even though I know my milk would still be warm. Ah, what fatigue will do to you. Sleep

  • So interesting!  We keep our water on the counter. Maybe it's time to move it to the fridge. Our reflux is under control although a cold or drool will set us back.

  • Do you think perhaps giving it to him cold slowed him down, therefore he ate slower and spit less?  I know when I give DD colder than normal bottles she's real puzzled and doesn't guzzle them as usual.  Of course she doesn't like it and starts gagging so this doesn't work for me!
