meal schedules for 1 year olds

Hi ladies

I am planning on weaning off bfing when the babes turn one next month (and go straight to whole milk, no formula).  Since I have never done bottles during the day, I am curious as to when your kids have their bottles (or sippies) throughout the day.  Right now they eat solids 3xs, nurse 4xs, and have a bottle of bm before bed.  I think I am going to try to move them towards an am nurse, 3 solids with a sippy of milk, and 2-3 snacks with a sippy of juice/water...does that sound right?

Thanks

Trina

Re: meal schedules for 1 year olds

  • That's pretty much what we do...sippies of milk with meals and then an extra juice or milk in between. Good luck!

  • I do a sippy first thing when they wake up.  Probably 8-10oz of milk.  Then around 8am (hour later) breakfast.  Maybe around 9 I give them another sippy with water.  I let them keep it in the family room and drink whenever they want it.  Late afternoon I give them about 4oz of milk and then another 4oz. of milk after dinner.  I usually don't give them a sippy with their meal b/c whatever reason I want them to eat and not get full on liquid.  One of mine is a poor eater and would be fine just with a drink for a meal!  Obviously if they are showing that they need a drink I give them one!
  • My girls have breakfast, lunch and dinner of table food.  The only meal accompanied by milk is breakfast.  They have water with lunch and dinner.  They also have milk snacks before naps and before bed.
