Installing a car seat in alexandria?

We need to install our car seat as my due date is coming up in December. ?I heard that you can go to a fire station and get it done there. ?Has anyone done it in Alexandria and if so, do I have to make an appointment? TIA!?

    Check this website

    https://www.seatcheck.org/

We went to the police department.  I had to call ahead and make an appointment.  The only available date was a month later.  We had to install it before we went there and they inspected it, adjusted it and gave us some pointers.

It may be a little late to get an appt. in time for December, but this guy is the car seat guru in Alexandria:  https://www.alexandriacares.org/

I had mine done at the Franconia police department, but since then I called (when I installed a different seat) and they said they don't do it anymore and to call alexandria cares... which kind of stinks because it's tough to get an appt with alexandria cares.

FWIW, we installed ours and used it for a while before even getting an appt. with the police station... DD survived.  Smile

I had it done in Alexandria by the Alexandria Cares guy.  He was really nice and helpful.

I do recommend calling soon though, becuase it was a little tough to get the appointment.

He does them in the Target parking lot at Potomac Yards.  DH had installed the seat, and the man checked it over and fixed our errors.  If I remember correctly, he wants you to come with the seat installed or else he won't check it (meaning that he won't install the seat for you).

I had called around to the police stations, and like the pp said, they won't do it if you tell them that you live in Alexandria.  It has to be with Alexandria cares.

You could also check and see if BRU/TRU is doing a seat safety check:

If you can't get an appointment, you could come to Prince William county.  The fire stations have hours twice a week they are available to check carseats, no appointments needed.
