March 2012 Moms

Thank you to all who share!

March mommas are wonderful, thank you all so much for sharing your advice (even though I am a February momma, was supposed to be a March momma, but never changed)! I don't always post, but I do read posts that interest me and have had great success with some of the suggestions you all have put out there.

As we all know, having a baby and finding out what works for your baby is totally trial and error. After reading the post about swaddling yesterday, I decided to swaddle my DS (which we always do at night, not during the day), but to make sure his arms were swaddled in the sack with him - Success!  We usually swaddle him, but leave his arms out because he moves them around a lot.  I have been feeling like he wasn't sleeping well at night and last night after we put his arms in his swaddle sack with him, he slept so soundly! This was also great for mom and and dad - we recently moved him to his crib and have a video monitor to watch him, which can get pretty noisy when he moves around/makes noises a lot.  So THANK YOU to all of you again who share what works for you, it helped me get a solid block of sleep.

So, in the spirit of this post here is my advice to pass along today: when I feed DS at night and he needs a diaper change I will feed him until he has about 2 ounces left and will change him then.  He will wake up when I change him, but with 2 ounces left to drink after I am done, he will go back to sleep in his "milk coma" as I call it.  I had tried changing him before and after he ate, but I found this works best to get him to go back to sleep.  This probably works best for those who are pumping or FF, but it could work for BF'ers too, if you know about how long your LO eats for.

Thanks for listening ladies!
