when did you stop the rewards? I started giving DS these organic Lolipops that I happened to have a stash of. It has totally worked for us but now I'm regretting this unhealthy habit. He had 3+ Lolipops yesterday and two today....his teeth are going to rot out of his little head:(
Re: if you did rewards for potty training...
I do use m&m's (we don't reward anythign else w/ food & she has days where she doesn't even get one, so I'm not bothered by using them) but I up the requirement periodically. First, just to actually pee on the potty earned one m&m. Then once that was no big deal (2 weeks?), she had to tell me she had to use the potty in order to get one (not go when I reminded or asked). Pooping on potty wasn't happening so she got a big ol' 2 m&m's for pooping on the potty. She still poops mostly in her pullup/diaper at nap & bedtime so I'll be sticking with that for a bit. Once she is able to go without me reminding her & able to poop on the potty, those rewards will go away. I'll have to assess if there is a new behavior to reward or not (using potty in public? some other non-potty related behavior?). Her brother is not PTed at all yet so right now he will get 1 M&M just for peeing on the potty (has only happened 1 time). She does not seem at all upset by the fact that he gets them for something different than her, she understands the 'rules'.
GL! I would just change the rules. clearly the lollipops motivate him but that is a lot of sugar compared to something small so maybe change the reward too or save the lollys for something REALLY big & important.
