Baltimore/DC-area ladies...

Immigration Equality has asked us to join them in DC to talk to legislators about the difficulties binational same-sex couples face (!!!!!). We really want to go, but the flights into DC at this point are ridiculously overpriced. How hard/easy is it to get into the city from the airport in Baltimore?

I really wonder who the legislators will be. You all know I'm not known for my diplomacy...

Re: Baltimore/DC-area ladies...

  • It is doable. It will require you to fly into BWI, take a shuttle to the train station, and then take a train to DC, and then depending on where you are staying a cab or Metro (subway) to the hotel. It would probably take an hour from airport to DC.

After your trip to Brazil, it'l be a piece of cake. :)

Come!!! We'd love to see you!!

  • I've done the Baltimore airport, train to DC thing.  Somewhat annoying but doable from my memory.  2brides clearly knows better than me.

But can I just say YAY that you're involved with them?

  • Thanks, 2brides! We're looking into it. I'll let you know what happens so we can connect if possible! Smile

And Kershnic, YAY to you! You made that connection! Smile

  • You can also take a Metro bus from BWI to the Greenbelt subway station. If you're staying near the Capitol it's nice to take the Amtrak from BWI since it goes to Union Station, but if you're staying somewhere else and heading to the Capitol later, I think the Metro bus is easier.

  • We fly in/out of BWI all the time. It's super easy to catch the B-30 bus leap mentioned. It's an express bus that just runs between the airport and the Greenbelt metro station. Here's the timetable: https://www.wmata.com/bus/timetables/md/b30.pdf?n

If you have a lot of luggage or are not staying somewhere close to public transit, you can also do the SuperShuttle.  I think it's around $30 per person, maybe less.  Tickets into DCA have been so high for so long, that I fly to BWI even on business trips.

  • BWI to DC is super easy.  It is a little time consuming but I find when buying tickets out of this area BWI is alway more affordable than Dulles or Reagan.  I am also biased because I live 15 minutes away.  I do however commute to DC for grad school so I really look at as a hop, skip, and a jump.
We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
