Brought up NB with my OB today

And he was great about it!  I'm really relieved.  He said he'd support me in whatever I wanted to do.  Yay! 

Now I just have to be able to do it.  I have to admit, I'm afraid that I'm going to get scared and opt for an epi.  I think once I take Hypnobirthing classes I'll feel better and more confident.

    Have you read "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin or "Your Best Birth" by Ricki Lake? If not, it's a good place to start to prepare.

    That's great! I was surprised as well with how supportive my OB and hospital birthing classes are on this topic.

    This post has been encouraging for me. :) Because of my insurance, I have to give birth at a hospital with an OB, and I'm hoping that she'll be supportive of my dreams of a low intervention birth. My first appointment is on April 9th, so we'll see how it goes!

    I've heard of the books you mentioned and am excited to read them. Also, check out Ricki Lake's documentary - The Business of Being Born. It's great

    I've seen TBOBB.  It is really great.  That's what convinced me to go natural,  but I still want to do it in a hospital.  I like the idea of being pampered for a couple of days (although the bill doesn't sound appealing). Smile

    I'm also having a natural birth in the hospital, with a very supportive midwife -- I feel great about it after talking through my birthing preferences with her.

    I'm glad your talk with your OB went so well. I'm making some finishing touches on my birth plan and then I'll be going over it with my OB. I'm not sure how she will handle it. We haven't really talked about the actual birthing process yet.

    I had DD in a hospital with a midwife and used hypnobirthing.  I was scared and nervous initially, but the hypnobirthing class and Ina May's book really gave me the courage and confidence I needed.  I had such a great birth that I will be birthing/delivering #2 at home.
